Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget, citing its unprecedented focus on jobs, youth, women empowerment, and small businesses.
During a meeting in the capital, Sarma expressed gratitude for the budget’s provisions, which he described as pivotal for a "Viksit Bharat."
In a post on X, Sarma stated, "This budget has an unprecedented focus on jobs, yuva shakti, nari shakti, and small businesses."
He also discussed various issues with Sitharaman, receiving assurances of comprehensive support for Assam, especially in building a flood-resilient economy.
The Chief Minister highlighted Assam's potential benefits from budget announcements related to MSMEs, skill development, and the digital economy. He mentioned that proposals from the state would be expedited.
"I conveyed my gratitude for the special assistance scheme for states' Capex and offered suggestions to make it even more robust," Sarma added.
Sitharaman assured that issues concerning royalties from the state’s hydrocarbon industries would be resolved promptly.
Sarma also proposed enhancing the capacity of Assam's chemical and hydrocarbon industries, which the Finance Minister considered positively.
