The government plans to introduce 'Kisan Ki Baat', a monthly radio show intended to provide farmers with scientific knowledge, announced Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Agriculture Minister.
This effort aims to update agricultural methods and equip farmers with the latest scientific information.
The show will include agricultural experts, government officials, and the minister himself, sharing important insights on optimal practices and scientific progress.
"Farmers often lack information, leading to misuse of pesticides. We must address this," Chouhan said, highlighting the need for rapid transfer of scientific benefits to farmers.
'Kisan Ki Baat' forms a component of a broader plan to rejuvenate India's agricultural industry. Chouhan emphasised the significance of aligning Krishi Vigyan Kendras with the requirements of farmers and encouraging dialogue among agricultural experts.
"Our goal is to transform India into a world food basket," the minister said at an Independence Day event attended by farmers. He also launched the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) on this occasion.
Chouhan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving farmers a top priority, noting that they had been overlooked by previous governments when it came to being invited to Independence Day celebrations.
The Ministers of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur and Bhagirath Chaudhary, as well as ICAR Director General Himanshu Pathak, were also present at the event.
