Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday challenged the opposition parties to reinstate Article 370, which was revoked by the BJP-led Central government in 2019.

Addressing a poll rally in Udhampur on Thursday, Modi, who was wearing a gold-edged saffron turban, said he had fulfilled his promise of putting an end to the suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Challenging the Congress and other opposition parties to reinstate Article 370 of the Constitution, he also addressed the statehood issue,

saying “the time is not far when Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir… which will get the status of statehood."

Promising to solve the long pending issues of the people, he said, “the people of Jammu and Kashmir have benefitted from schemes initiated by the government over the past ten years.”

The Prime Minister also criticised the opposition parties, saying the NC PDP and Congress were only interested in taking Jammu and Kashmir backwards because these political parties were only meant “for the family, of the family and by the family.”

Taking another jibe at the Congress and INDIA bloc he said, “Ram Mandir was built after 500 years of struggle, and when Congress was given the invitation to attend the Pran Pratistha ceremony they rejected and disrespected the trustees.

He added, “After this speech here, the opposition will abuse, downgrade and try to demolish me.”

Towards the end of the rally, PM appealed to voters to show up in large numbers and make sure that Jugal Kishore Sharma from Jammu and Dr Jitendra Singh from Udhampur emerged victorious in the elections.
