Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to visit Prayagraj on Monday to review the ongoing preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, which is scheduled to commence on 13 January 2025.

His visit will include an inspection of key areas such as the tent city in Naini, Arail, and the Mela Circuit House. A detailed review meeting will also be conducted to assess the progress of arrangements.

Mahakumbh, a grand religious gathering held once every 12 years, is one of the largest spiritual events in the world. The upcoming Mahakumbh will span from 13 January to 26 February 2025, drawing millions of pilgrims to Prayagraj.

The main bathing festivals, or “Shahi Snan,” are scheduled for 14 January (Makar Sankranti), 29 January (Mauni Amavasya), and 3 February (Basant Panchami).

To ensure the safety of devotees, a robust deployment of 220 expert deep-sea divers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will be stationed at the Sangam waters.

These divers will operate in shifts, supported by 700 boats, to provide round-the-clock vigilance during the holy bathing rituals.

Additionally, teams from the NDRF, SDRF, water police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and healthcare services will work in close coordination to maintain safety and security throughout the event.

Their collective efforts will be critical in managing the massive influx of pilgrims expected to attend.

In an effort to improve lodging options for visitors, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) plans to enhance its tent-based deluxe accommodations.

A 300-bed deluxe dormitory is being developed within the Mahakumbh area to offer premium facilities to pilgrims and tourists.

The cultural aspect of Mahakumbh will also receive significant attention. The Uttar Pradesh Culture Department has announced the establishment of 20 small stages at strategic locations across Prayagraj.

These stages will showcase the diverse cultural heritage of India through performances of folk dances and other art forms from different states over the 45-day festival.

To strengthen security, the Uttar Pradesh Police are integrating advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), into their surveillance systems.

Enhanced CCTV monitoring powered by AI will help ensure the safety of millions of attendees.

Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar has emphasised the importance of these measures in managing an event of such magnitude.
