Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Wednesday, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s current style of functioning and policies. Soren, who is set to join the BJP on August 30, also resigned as an MLA and a minister in the Jharkhand Cabinet.
Announcing his departure, Soren said, “I have resigned from the primary membership and all posts of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. I will continue to fight for the rights of tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and the common people of Jharkhand.”
In a letter addressed to JMM supremo Shibu Soren, the senior tribal leader expressed his discontent with the party’s direction, stating that he was forced to take this step.
Champai Soren also informed the Speaker of his resignation from the assembly through a separate letter, as per sources close to him.
Another letter was sent to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, formally notifying his resignation from his ministerial post.
