Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be seen contesting the Assembly polls from Kurukshetra's Ladwa, Bharatiya Janata Party's state unit president Mohan Lal Badoli announced on Friday.

"CM sahab Ladwa se chunav ladenge (The CM will contest from Ladwa)," said Badoli, though not giving any hints if the CM would also be contesting from Karnal. Saini, who represents the Karnal seat in the Haryana Assembly, was the MP from Kurukshetra between 2019 and 2024.

Meanwhile, the party's senior leadership convened meetings on Thursday to finalise poll faces for the state assembly elections, and the first list of the same is likely to be out by Sunday.

Congress' Mewa Singh is currently ruling the Ladwa assembly seat.

Badoli, the MLA from Rai in Sonipat, also said that he would not contest the elections.

After another round of meetings, the first list of candidates is expected to be out soon, he then added.

Party's state chief then emphasised that there had been no talks regarding a potential alliance, confidently asserting that the party would secure a clear majority and form the government.

BJP replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister of Haryana with Saini, a prominent OBC leader, in March. Following his parliamentary election win from Karnal, Khattar assumed the role of Union Minister. At the time of his appointment, Saini held the positions of BJP's Haryana chief and Kurukshetra MP. He subsequently won the by-election for the Karnal assembly seat, which was vacated by Khattar. Notably, Saini had previously won the assembly polls from the Naraingarh seat in Ambala district in 2014, when the BJP swept to power.

Elections to the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held in a single phase on October 1 and the results declared on October 4.
