Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development schemes worth more than Rs 80,700 crores at Hazaribag in Jharkhand. Most of the schemes are linked to the welfare and upliftment of the tribal society.
The Prime Minister, on the occasion, also launched the Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, along with the inauguration of 40 Eklavya schools and laid the foundation stone of 25 Eklavya schools.
Addressing people on the occasion, Modi said that Mahatma Gandhi’s vision and ideas for tribal development are our capital.
“Gandhiji believed that India can develop only when the tribal society develops rapidly. I am satisfied that today our government is paying maximum attention to tribal uplift,” he said.
“Under the PM Awas Yojana, thousands of poor people of Jharkhand have got their own concrete house, and now in a few days, the foundation stone and inauguration of development projects worth more than Rs 80 thousand crores have been done in Jharkhand. These schemes are linked to the welfare and upliftment of the tribal society,” said the PM.
Modi said, "Our tribal society will progress when tribal youth get good opportunities, for this our government is working very hard to build Eklavya residential schools in tribal areas, today 40 Eklavya residential schools have been inaugurated here... When right efforts are made, right results are achieved..."
The PM said that more than 5 crore tribal brothers and sisters of the country will get the benefit of Eklavya schools. Tribal society of Jharkhand will also get a great benefit from this, he said.
The PM further said, “I am happy that Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan is being started from the land of Lord Birsa Munda. The PM-Janman Yojana was also launched from Jharkhand on the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Next month on November 15, on Tribal Pride Day, we will celebrate the first anniversary of the PM-Janman Yojana. Through this scheme, today development is reaching those tribal areas of the country which were left behind.”
Modi said that the foundation stone for development works worth about Rs 1,300 crore has been laid under the PM-Janman Yojana today.
“I have just launched the Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan program here. About Rs 80 thousand crore will be spent on this scheme. Under the Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a campaign will be launched to develop 65,000 tribal-dominated villages in about 550 districts,” he said.
