Tallest Living Humans

Sultan Kösen

Standing at 251 cm (8 ft 2.8 in), Sultan Kösen from Turkey holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest living man. His extraordinary height is due to acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumor affecting the pituitary gland, leading to excessive production of growth hormone. This condition resulted in his continuous growth into adulthood, necessitating the use of crutches for mobility. In 2010, Kösen underwent treatment in the United States, where doctors employed gamma-ray radiosurgery to halt his growth. Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed the success of this intervention, stabilizing his height.
