Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday met Asian Development Bank’s new Vice-President (market solutions) Bhargav Dasgupta and discussed ways to further the development agenda.
The meeting, which took place at the ADB headquarters, focused on exploring avenues for collaboration to advance India's development agenda. In a social media post, the finance ministry disclosed that both parties exchanged insights on potential partnerships between ADB and India to drive socio-economic progress.
Additionally, they deliberated on leveraging ADB's influential role to engage other public and private sector entities in India's growth trajectory.
Bhargav Dasgupta assumed the role of Vice-President at ADB in September 2023 for a tenure of three years. Prior to this prestigious appointment, he served as the Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Lombard General Insurance.
Founded in 1966, the Asian Development Bank operates with the collective ownership of 68 member countries, with 49 of them hailing from the Asia-Pacific region. The core mission of ADB revolves around fostering prosperity, inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability across Asia and the Pacific, while steadfastly working towards eradicating extreme poverty.
