Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday assured Bihar Agriculture Minister Mangal Pande of support for the state's farmers. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between the Centre and the state to enhance agricultural growth.
During a meeting at Krishi Bhavan, Chouhan committed to reevaluating funding allocations under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) and the National Food Security Mission. This reevaluation aims to strengthen Bihar's agricultural initiatives. Chouhan also urged the submission of new proposals to further these efforts, according to an official statement.
Chouhan highlighted the importance of ensuring a seamless supply of kharif and rabi seeds, stressing the need for advanced planning. The discussions included a comprehensive review of the agriculture ministry's schemes and initiatives.
"The farmers of Bihar will not be allowed to face any problem at the central level," Chouhan said.
Pande also highlighted Bihar's potential in maize and 'makhana' production, seeking the Centre's assistance to maximize these opportunities.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Ramnath Thakur and senior officials from central and state agriculture and horticulture departments attended the meeting.
Recently, Chouhan met with the agriculture ministers of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh to discuss similar initiatives.
