Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is set to receive the prestigious 'Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar' at a ceremony scheduled for April 24, announced organizers.
The award, presented by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratisthan in Pune and nurtured by the esteemed Mangeshkar family, will be conferred upon Bachchan on his 82nd death anniversary, accompanied by a musical tribute.
Renowned music maestro A.R. Rahman will also be honoured with the 'Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award' the following week.
Previously, the inaugural award was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, followed by veteran singer Asha Bhosale in 2023, in recognition of their significant contributions to the nation and society.
In addition to Bachchan and Rahman, notable awardees in various categories include 'Ghalib' for Best Marathi Play of the Year, the Deepstambh Foundation Manobal of Jalgaon, litterateur Manjiri Phadke, comedian Ashok Saraf, actress Padmini Kolhapure, singer Roopkumar Rathod, journalist S.B. Torsekar, actor Atul Parchure, and producer-actor Randeep Hooda.
The announcement of the awardees was made by siblings Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Usha Mangeshkar. The honours will be presented by Asha Bhonsle on April 24.
Prominent singer Vibhavari Apte-Joshi and her team will pay a musical tribute to Lata Mangeshkar that evening, organised by the Pratisthan and Hridayesh Arts.n and Hridayesh Arts.
