AAP MP Sanjay Singh recently reflected on his challenging six-month stint in Tihar jail, highlighting his resilience and courage during this period. Despite facing initial difficulties confined to a small cell, Singh remained steadfast, even refusing to let his family members shed tears during their virtual interactions.
He recalled the initial hardships of being restricted indoors without access to outdoor spaces but later negotiated with jail authorities for basic prisoner rights.
Singh utilised his time in jail for intellectual growth, delving into the writings of influential figures like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi. His experience, he noted, surpassed his past years in terms of reading volume. Singh emerged from the ordeal with a strengthened resolve, vowing to continue his fight with renewed vigour.
During Singh's absence, his wife Anita admirably managed the family affairs. Singh emphasised the importance of maintaining strength and composure, advising his family not to display any distress during their conversations, knowing they were being recorded.
He strived to uplift their spirits with light-hearted anecdotes and humour, encouraging laughter over tears. Singh expressed gratitude for his family's resilience and solidarity throughout the ordeal.
Singh's stay in Tihar, marked by its peculiarities including his transfer between different jail sections, left him puzzled. Nevertheless, he maintained his resilience and courage, facing the challenges head-on.
His eventual release was a moment of relief, coinciding with medical treatment at ILBS Hospital. Singh acknowledged the significant role played by Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, in maintaining communication and coordination amidst challenging circumstances.
Reflecting on the broader political context, Singh alleged a conspiracy behind Kejriwal's arrest and anticipated a swift resolution for him and his fellow party members. Despite the adversities, Singh remained committed to serving his party and campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, pledging to work tirelessly for the Aam Aadmi Party's candidates and the INDIA bloc.
