Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia recently praised Delhi Education Minister Atishi for continuing to advance the city's education system. During a visit to Rajkiya Sarvodaya BAL Vidyalaya in West Vinod Nagar, Delhi, Sisodia expressed his gratitude for Atishi's efforts to keep the educational reforms moving forward despite numerous challenges.
The visit was marked by a heartfelt gesture from the students who tied Rakhis to both Sisodia and Atishi. Sisodia, who had been absent from school visits for 17 months due to legal issues, shared his deep appreciation for the ongoing improvements in the education sector. He noted that Atishi's leadership has ensured that the momentum of the education revolution remains strong, even in his absence.
Sisodia, who previously served as the Education Minister, acknowledged the significant strides made under Atishi's stewardship. "In the last 17 months, I missed visiting schools and interacting with children. I believe that children are a form of God. I am thrilled to see that Atishi has not only maintained but also strengthened Delhi’s education system," Sisodia said. He highlighted that new schools and a sports school have been established, noting that such initiatives were unprecedented in the past.
Sisodia's remarks came shortly after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a case related to alleged irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy. The court's decision allowed Sisodia to return to public life under certain conditions, including surrendering his passport and refraining from influencing witnesses. The Supreme Court's decision was delivered by Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan.
Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 by the CBI for his alleged role in irregularities concerning the now-scrapped excise policy. The policy had been withdrawn amidst allegations of misconduct, and Sisodia faced accusations of playing a central role in a conspiracy related to its formulation and implementation. Despite these challenges, Sisodia's recent comments underscore his continued commitment to Delhi's education system.
The former Deputy Chief Minister's visit and praise for Atishi serve as a testament to the ongoing efforts to improve education in Delhi. Sisodia's support for Atishi and her work highlights the significance of their shared vision for educational reform, which aims to provide better opportunities for students across the city.
As Delhi continues to navigate these complex issues, the dedication of leaders like Atishi and Sisodia remains crucial in ensuring that the city’s educational advancements are not only preserved but also enhanced.
