In a significant crackdown on drug manufacturing operations, thirteen individuals have been apprehended following the seizure of mephedrone worth Rs 230 crore in Gujarat and neighbouring Rajasthan.
The raids, conducted jointly by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau, targeted four drug manufacturing units based on intelligence inputs.
The operation was initiated after the ATS received information indicating the establishment of mephedrone manufacturing facilities by Ahmedabad resident Manoharlal Enani and Kuldeepsinh Rajpurohit from Rajasthan.
Surveillance was conducted on Enani, Rajpurohit, and their associates, leading to raids on the units located in Sirohi and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, as well as Piplaj village in Gandhinagar and the Bhaktinagar industrial area of Amreli district in Gujarat.
During the raids, authorities seized a total of 22.028 kilograms of solid mephedrone and 124 kilograms of liquid mephedrone, collectively valued at Rs 230 crore.
Rajpurohit was apprehended during the operation in Gandhinagar, while Enani was arrested in Sirohi.
The investigation revealed that Enani had previously served a seven-year jail term after being apprehended by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in 2015 for his involvement in mephedrone production at an industrial unit in Rajasthan.
The arrested individuals were found to be interconnected, procuring raw materials from a company located in the Vapi industrial area of Valsad district.
