Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has raised serious allegations regarding her husband's health issues, claiming that his condition has been deliberately ignored as part of a broader conspiracy.
Speaking at a protest organised by the INDIA bloc at Jantar Mantar, Sunita Kejriwal expressed grave concerns about the way her husband’s health has been handled, especially during his recent legal troubles.
Joined by prominent figures including Delhi Minister Gopal Rai, NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar, and CPI General Secretary D Raja, Sunita highlighted the challenges Arvind Kejriwal has faced due to his diabetes.
She revealed that Kejriwal, who has been managing his diabetes with insulin for over two decades, was deprived of his medication while in custody. According to Sunita, efforts to provide him with insulin required legal intervention.
In her address, Sunita detailed the extent of her husband's health issues. She explained that Kejriwal uses a device to monitor his blood sugar levels, which records data throughout the day.
This device helps in managing his condition by tracking fluctuations in his sugar levels. Sunita reported that while Kejriwal was in jail, his blood sugar levels dropped dangerously low, even below 50 at times, posing a serious risk to his health.
The situation was compounded by a letter from Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, which alleged that Kejriwal was intentionally eating less. Sunita questioned the credibility of these claims, arguing that such accusations were not only baseless but also indicative of a larger scheme against her husband. She criticised the Lieutenant Governor and described the situation as a manifestation of dictatorship.
Sunita Kejriwal also took the opportunity to target the BJP, accusing them of attempting to malign the image of Delhi’s Chief Minister. She argued that the BJP's focus was on obstructing progress rather than contributing to the welfare of Delhi’s citizens. Sunita asserted that despite the challenges and attempts to discredit him, her husband remains steadfast in his commitment to fight for the people.
The timing of Sunita’s remarks coincides with a significant legal development. The Rouse Avenue Court has scheduled August 12 for reviewing the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Arvind Kejriwal and five others in connection with the excise policy case.
This case has been a source of considerable controversy and scrutiny, adding to the pressures faced by the Delhi Chief Minister.
Sunita Kejriwal's statements underscore the intense political and legal battles surrounding her husband and reflect ongoing tensions between his administration and his political adversaries.
