Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief J P Nadda along with three other party candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls on Tuesday were elected unopposed from Gujarat, since no other candidates had filed nomination papers for the same on four vacant seats.
The state had four vacant Rajya Sabha seats, and all four BJP nominees had submitted their nomination papers.
With no other candidates in the fray, Returning Officer Reeta Mehta announced the unopposed victory of all four BJP contenders, including Nadda, to the Upper House of Parliament, an official stated.
Tuesday was the last date for the withdrawal of nomination forms.
Apart from Nadda, the three other candidates elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha were diamond baron Govindbhai Dholakia, BJP leaders Jasvantsinh Parmar and Mayank Nayak.
