Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced an additional Rs 250 for the Rakhi festival, on top of the regular Rs 1,250 monthly assistance, for women beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana. This brings the total amount disbursed to Rs 1,897 crore for 1.29 crore women.
Speaking at a function in Vijaypur, Sheopur district, Yadav emphasised that women deserve respect and described Rakshabandhan, which falls on August 19, as a sacred festival.
The Ladli Behna scheme was introduced by the previous government under Shivraj Singh Chouhan, now Union Agriculture Minister, just before the 2023 assembly elections.
In a separate address in Tikamgarh district, Yadav expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh would surpass Punjab and Haryana in terms of development, particularly in agriculture. He urged farmers not to sell their land in distress, assuring them of a promising future.
