In Karhal town in Uttar Pradesh, accusations have surfaced against ninety Samajwadi Party (SP) activists for allegedly disrespecting the statue of Maharana Pratap.
In response, supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest at the statue, demanding action against the implicated SP members.
According to reports, on Saturday, SP activists climbed the Maharana Pratap statue and attempted to hoist their flags.
Jaiveer Singh, BJP candidate in Mainpuri and UP minister, stated, "They attempted to deface the statue, entering with their shoes and resorting to abusive language."
The spokesperson for the Mainpuri police confirmed the filing of an FIR and ongoing efforts to identify the individuals involved.
"The complaint is being forwarded to the Election Commission for appropriate action," the spokesperson stated.
In response, the SP spokesperson dismissed the allegations against their members, saying that they were fabricated.
