Giving Raksha Bandhan a gift for the women of state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Saturday, announced to provide 3000 vacancies for new posts for Anganwari workers.
The chief minister assured that the process for the same has already been started and soon the recruitment will begin, calling it a step for women empowerment.
He then claimed that the state would become the first in India to recruit women into the fire fighting staff. This initiative is set to be realised through amendments to the physical criteria for female recruits, a change that previous governments had neglected, according to Mann.
The Chief Minister criticised past administrations for their lack of concern regarding the issues faced by the public. The new rules are being implemented to facilitate the inclusion of women in firefighting roles, reflecting a commitment to addressing longstanding gender disparities in this field.
He then requested the state's youth to not go abroad since his administration is working towards ensuring employment.
