Heavy rainfall hit parts of Delhi-NCR for the second day in a row, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more showers throughout the day.
The IMD stated that Delhi-NCR would experience rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and winds with speeds ranging from 20-40 km/h, for the next two hours.
The rainfall provided relief from the intense heat but also led to waterlogging in various areas of the national capital.
Several individuals took to their social media accounts to share images and videos of the waterlogged areas.
Earlier on Thursday, the rainfall in Delhi brought the temperature down to 35.4 degrees Celsius. The city received 5.2 mm of rainfall from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The rain also led to traffic jams and flooding in the city, causing inconvenience for commuters in various areas. The traffic police received numerous reports of waterlogging, traffic congestion, and fallen trees.
Delhi had been suffering from extreme heat, with nine days of heatwaves in June, compared to none in 2023 and 2022.
