One of the accused in the infamous land scam case involving former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren died due to illness in Ranchi late on Tuesday night.
Hilarius Kachhap, who was made an accused along with several others in the 8.50-acre land scam, was ill for a long time and was on dialysis.
The deceased's son Alastair Kachhap said that his father was suffering from liver and kidney diseases.
Notably, ED, while completing the investigation in the land scam case, had filed a charge sheet against five people including former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Apart from Hemant Soren, Revenue Sub-Inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Architect Vinod Singh land businessman Hilarius Kachhap and land owner Raj Kumar Pahan living in the Bariatu area were made accused in the case by ED in the charge sheet.
ED has found everyone accused of money laundering.
In the ED's charge sheet, Hilarius' role has been described in detail. It is said that Hilarius himself had built the boundary wall of the entire land. His name has come 36 times in the charge sheet filed by ED.
