BJP MLA, a Neurosurgeon, from the tribal constituency of Pangi-Bharmour in Himachal Pradesh, Dr Janak Raj has urged the Union Health Minister, Jagat Prakash Nadda to have more Centres for the NEET PG examination on 11 August in Himachal Pradesh.
He said there is only one examination centre in Himachal Pradesh, Hamirpur. “Several serving doctors from the hill state are appearing in the NEET PG exam and they have to travel long distances in and out of state for this, which is very difficult for them.
Not only will it hamper the emergency medical services back home, but it would also make it inconvenient for the doctors, who would have to travel for longer periods due to the distance involved.
The Meteorological Department in Himachal has predicted bad weather in the coming days and in case there is a calamity situation, the services of doctors would be urgently required,” Dr Janak Raj said.
He said all other examination centres, which were notified by NBE for NEET PG earlier in Himachal Pradesh, were cancelled when the exam was postponed last time and only Hamirpur Centre was kept.
“The Medical Officers Association has taken up the issue with me. I have appealed to the Union Health Minister, JP Nadda to consider the demand sympathetically and facilitate the doctors from Himachal to appear in the NEET PG examination in their home state and for this, the Central government should provide one NEET PG Examination Centre in each Parliamentary constituency,” Dr Janak Raj said.
