The Jharkhand girls' team delivered an outstanding performance in the final match of the 63rd International Subroto Cup Under-17 Girls Football Competition, held at Dr Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi, securing the championship title. The team emerged victorious by defeating Bangladesh with a commanding score of 4-1 in the final.
In the decisive match, Sanjana Oraon led the charge with two goals, while Urvashi Kumari and Babita Kumari each added one goal for Jharkhand. Bangladesh managed to score only once during the game.
Lalita Bonpai of Jharkhand was honoured with the Best Player of the Tournament award, and Anisha Oraon received the Best Goalkeeper Award.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended his congratulations to the entire team, praising the excellent performance of Jharkhand's daughters and their remarkable victory.
The Jharkhand team demonstrated their strength throughout the Subroto Cup 2024 Under-17 Girls Competition, with impressive wins against Delhi (7-0), Gujarat (3-0), Arunachal Pradesh (13-0), Tripura (2-0), and Haryana (4-2) in earlier matches.
The champion team is set to arrive at Ranchi on August 14 by flight. An award ceremony will be held at the Jharkhand Education Project Council to honour the champions.
On the occasion of Jharkhand's stellar performance in the final, Minister of State for School Education and Literacy Department Baidyanath Ram, Secretary Umashankar Singh, State Education Project Director Aditya Ranjan, senior coaches and other Sports Cell officials extended their best wishes for the final match and congratulated the team on their victory.
