Congress veteran Kamal Nath made a significant statement to party workers in Harrai, Chhindwara, indicating that he won't "impose" himself on them and is prepared to "leave" if they wish.

The 77-year-old leader, a prominent figure in Madhya Pradesh politics, emphasized the decision rests with the party workers, hinting at a potential departure if they express such a desire.

Nath's remarks come amid swirling speculations about his potential defection to the BJP, which he refuted as a "media creation" just a day prior. During the gathering, he reaffirmed his allegiance to the Congress and urged party members not to succumb to the aggressive campaigning of the BJP, stressing the importance of voting to secure the future.

Acknowledging the significance of the Ayodhya Ram temple, Nath emphasized it belongs to all, including himself, cautioning against the BJP's attempt to monopolize credit for its construction.

He highlighted the temple's funding with public resources and the Supreme Court's verdict, emphasizing the need to keep religious sentiments separate from political exploitation.

Nath also offered insights into his personal religious practices, citing his reverence for Lord Ram and his initiative to construct a sizable temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman on his Chhindwara property. He underscored the importance of preserving cultural traditions while reaffirming his commitment to secular principles.

Nath's son, Nakul Nath, a sitting Lok Sabha member from Chhindwara, is slated to contest again from the constituency, with Kamal Nath's backing. The veteran politician's remarks underscore his loyalty to the Congress and his readiness to honor the decisions of party workers, even if it means stepping away from the political forefront.

The development underscores the intricate dynamics within the Congress party and Nath's pivotal role in Madhya Pradesh politics. His willingness to bow to the will of party workers reflects a commitment to democratic principles and internal party democracy, setting a precedent for political conduct within the organization.
