The counter-intelligence wing of police in Punjab's Amritsar arrested two people, recovering over seven kg of heroin along with 16 cartridges from their possession on Tuesday, June 11.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav wrote on X, "In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Rural police apprehended two accused, Harshdeep Singh & Subham Kumar of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang."
A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act has been registered in Amritsar.
"They were nabbed with one 30-bore pistol, 9 live cartridges, and 2 Glock pistols The accused revealed that the consignment of weapons was provided to them by Bhupinder Singh from Rajasthan an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang."
Punjab Police is fully committed to eradicating organized crime in the state as per the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann, the post further cites.
"Investigations are ongoing to establish backward & forward linkages," Yadav added.
