At least 11 devotees en route to the Purnagiri temple were killed and 10 others seriously injured when a dumper truck overturned onto their bus, a senior police official reported on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena informed PTI that the incident occurred on Saturday night in Hajiyapur, under the Khutar police station, while the bus had stopped at a roadside restaurant.
The devotees from Sitapur were inside the bus when a dumper truck carrying gravel lost control and overturned onto the vehicle.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the district administration to ensure the injured receive proper treatment.
