The Ministry of Civil Aviation's IT initiative, Digi Yatra, continues to revolutionize the travel experience by providing a seamless and hassle-free movement of passengers at airport entry gates.
Recent statistics released by the ministry reveal a substantial surge in the adoption of the Digi Yatra application, with the user base soaring to 45.8 lakhs as of February 10, marking a remarkable 20.5% increase from January 1, 2024.
Data updated until February 20, 2024, showcases a significant expansion, with the user base escalating from 17.3 lakhs on January 1 to 21.2 lakhs by February 10, depicting a robust growth rate of approximately 22.5%.
Notably, iOS Apple users contributed substantially to this surge, with a notable 19% increase, registering at 24.6 lakhs compared to 20.7 lakhs during the specified period.
Initially introduced at three major airports – New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi in December 2022, DigiYatra has rapidly expanded its footprint, encompassing an additional 10 airports across the country. The cumulative count of Digi Yatra passengers across all 13 operational airports has surged impressively from 1,12,60,888 to 1,44,95,291, reflecting the growing acceptance and reliance on this innovative technology.
Presently operational at key airports including Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Vijayawada, Cochin, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, and Jaipur, Digi Yatra is poised for further expansion.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced plans to implement the system at Chennai Airport by March 31, underscoring the commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and streamlining travel processes nationwide.
