In a keynote speech at a CEO connection event in Mumbai on Wednesday, Microsoft chairman Satya Nadella made a persuasive argument for India's adoption of the new-age technology.
He said, "Microsoft will help equip 2 million Indians with skills in Artificial Intelligence by 2025. Called ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA, the programme aims to accelerate the country's artificial intelligence transformation and empower its workforce for the jobs of the future"
Nadella’s return to Mumbai after nearly a year marked a pivotal moment as he shifted his focus entirely to AI, diverging from previous discussions centered around Microsoft Cloud.
Encouraging Indian firms to swiftly adopt AI solutions, Nadella highlighted the urgency of adopting innovative products like Microsoft Copilot, an AI chatbot leveraging the company’s advanced LLM technology for enterprise applications.
Reflecting on the significance of this technological shift, Nadella drew parallels to the PC revolution of the late 90s, emphasizing how PCs revolutionized workflows and brought information to users fingertips.
He envisioned AI as the next frontier, which will aim to empower individuals with expertise readily accessible at their fingertips, thereby revolutionizing productivity metrics.
He stressed on India’s pivotal role in driving technological advancements, drawing from his own extensive experience witnessing platform shifts throughout his tenure at Microsoft.
He highlighted the seamless integration of AI initiatives in India with those around the world, citing examples of leading Indian corporations such as Air India, HCL Tech, Infosys, and Axis Bank, which have embraced AI-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Axis Bank emerged as a frontrunner in AI integration, while Copilot becoming a standard tool for its workforce, with the rapid uptake of AI technologies among Indian enterprises.
