Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on Thursday that Jio users will receive up to 100 GB of free cloud storage as part of a new initiative to enhance the company’s AI and cloud services. This offer, part of the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome, will be launched during the upcoming Diwali festival.
Speaking at the 47th AGM of Reliance Industries, Ambani described the initiative as a “powerful and affordable solution” that provides cloud storage and AI services to users everywhere.
The free storage will enable Jio customers to securely store and access photos, videos, documents, and other digital content. For those requiring additional storage, Jio will offer competitive pricing.
Ambani emphasised that AI should be accessible to all, not just those with high-end devices. He explained that AI services and data processing must be cloud-based to ensure availability across various devices and low-latency broadband networks.
This approach, termed "Connected Intelligence," aims to make AI beneficial for all users, regardless of socio-economic status.
In addition to the cloud storage offer, Jio has integrated its voice assistant "Hello Jio" into its new Jio TvOS operating system, allowing users to control their Set-Top Boxes via voice commands.
The assistant, recently upgraded with Generative AI technologies, enhances natural language understanding and provides more intuitive content search capabilities.
Jio also introduced the JioPhonecall AI service, which enables users to record, store, and transcribe phone calls in Jio Cloud. The service can summarise calls and translate them into other languages, making conversations easily searchable and accessible.
These advancements reflect Jio’s commitment to expanding its AI and cloud offerings and enhancing user experience through innovative technology.
