The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the signing of an Agreement between Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA), Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) concerning cooperation in the areas of food safety on Wednesday.
This agreement aims to foster trade between the two neighboring countries by streamlining food safety regulations.
Under this agreement, BFDA will issue a Health Certificate demonstrating compliance with the requirements set by FSSAI when exporting products to India.
This measure is expected to promote Ease of Doing Business and reduce compliance costs for both nations.
The signing of this Agreement underscores the commitment of both India and Bhutan to ensure food safety standards and strengthen bilateral trade relations in the food sector.
