The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to present the Economic Survey for the year 2023-24 in Parliament on July 22. This marks the beginning of the Budget Session of Parliament, which is scheduled to run until August 12, subject to the needs of government business. The session will include 16 sittings spread over 22 days.
During this session, significant attention will be given to financial matters related to the Union Budget for 2024-25. The Budget is expected to be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 23. In addition to the Union Budget, the Economic Survey of India 2023-24, accompanied by a statistical appendix, will be laid on the tables of both Houses of Parliament on the first day of the session.
Another important item on the agenda is the presentation of the Budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the year 2024. This presentation is also scheduled for July 23, highlighting the comprehensive financial planning and assessments that will be addressed during this parliamentary session.
Union Ministers Jayant Chaudhary, Pankaj Chaudhary, Kirtivardhan Singh, and Sukanta Majumdar are slated to lay various papers on the table in the Lok Sabha on the same day. These documents are expected to be relevant to ongoing governmental functions and legislative activities.
Furthermore, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will propose a motion for the election of two members to the central building and other construction workers' advisory committee in the Lok Sabha.
This committee plays a crucial role in advising on matters concerning the welfare and working conditions of construction workers, a significant segment of the labour force.
Additionally, Union Minister Manohar Lal will propose a motion for the election to the Rajghat Samadhi Committee (RSC). This committee is responsible for the upkeep and management of the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, ensuring that it remains a dignified and respectful site.
The Lok Sabha is also expected to take up matters under Rule 377 for discussion. Rule 377 allows members to raise matters of urgent public importance in the House, providing a platform for addressing immediate and pressing issues that may not be included in the regular agenda.
The Budget Session is set to be a critical period for discussing and deciding on various financial and administrative matters that will shape the economic and social landscape of the country in the coming year.
The Economic Survey and the Union Budget presentations are particularly significant as they provide insights into the government's economic policies, performance, and projections, guiding future legislative and policy decisions.
