Retail inflation for farm workers and rural labourers eased to 5.96% and 6.08%, respectively, in August, down from 6.17% and 6.20% recorded in July, according to a statement from the Labour Ministry.
The All-India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) and Rural Labourers (CPI-RL) both registered an increase of seven points in August, reaching levels of 1,297 and 1,309, respectively, up from 1,290 and 1,302 points in July.
Year-on-year inflation rates based on CPI-AL and CPI-RL for August 2024 were 5.96% and 6.08%, compared to 7.37% and 7.12% in August 2023. The figures for July 2024 were 6.17% for CPI-AL and 6.20% for CPI-RL.
