Despite India's affordable and increasingly accessible internet, a recent survey reveals widespread dissatisfaction among internet users due to slow data speeds and connectivity problems.

A staggering 70% of respondents expressed their intent to switch service providers, highlighting the severity of the issue.

The annual broadband survey by LocalCircles disclosed that 86% of Indian users connect to the internet at home via fiber, broadband, DSL, or fixed-line connections.

However, over half of them (56%) reported experiencing disruptions or receiving slower speeds than promised.

Conducted across 286 Indian districts with insights from over 70,000 consumers, the survey revealed alarming statistics: 39% stated receiving significantly slower speeds than paid for, while 47% complained of prolonged wait times exceeding 24 hours for issue resolution.

70% of fiber, broadband, DSL, or fixed-line users are ready to switch to alternative providers for improved quality, service, or pricing, as indicated by the survey.

The study forecasts a decline in revenue generated by telephone, landline, or fixed voice services in India, projecting a 4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) decrease from 2023 to 2028.

This decline is attributed to the increasing preference for mobile and over-the-top (OTT) communication services, compounded by operators bundling complimentary voice minutes within plans.

LocalCircles aims to address these consumer concerns by sharing survey results with relevant government bodies, including the telecom regulator TRAI, the Ministry of Telecom, and the Department of Consumer Affairs.
