IPO-bound food tech platform Swiggy formally launched its bulk order 'XL' fleet on Saturday, aimed at serving large orders in a single delivery.
The launch follows Swiggy's introduction of its 10-minute meals and beverages delivery service, 'Bolt', currently available in select cities.
The 'XL' fleet, which has been in a pilot phase for several weeks, was officially launched in Gurugram, coinciding with the Haryana Assembly elections.
“To mark the official launch, Swiggy’s XL EV fleet delivered 3,500 meals to electoral officials across more than 580 polling booths in the Gurugram and Badshahpur constituencies," Swiggy said in a statement.
The service was provided free of charge to the District Administration.
Sidharth Bhakoo, National Business Head of Swiggy Food Marketplace, said the new service would contribute to the growth of India's food and beverage (F&B) sector by creating new consumption opportunities, encouraging supply expansion, and broadening the customer base.
“Food is closely linked to joy and social gatherings, so there is growing demand for bulk orders when families and friends come together,” Bhakoo said. “Launching Swiggy XL during the festive season, when celebrations are in full swing, ensures no delays for large orders at parties and gatherings.”
Bhakoo added that the service would be expanded to additional cities in the coming weeks.
A fleet of 20 Swiggy XL electric vehicles (EVs) delivered three meals—dinner on October 4, followed by breakfast and lunch on October 5.
