The renowned auto giant Maruti Suzuki has initiated a recall of more than 16,000 units of its popular models in India. The move comes after the company identified a defect in the fuel pump motor, prompting concerns over potential safety issues.

Maruti Suzuki has decided to recall a total of 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the WagonR. These units were manufactured between July and November 2019, raising alarms regarding the specific batch of vehicles affected by the fault.

The company released an official statement addressing the matter, stating, "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in a part of the fuel pump motor, which is a rare case may lead to engine stalling or engine starting issue." This acknowledgment highlights the seriousness of the issue and highlights Maruti Suzuki's commitment to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers.

Despite this setback, Maruti Suzuki has been experiencing a consistent growth trajectory in its sales performance. Recent data indicates a commendable domestic sales growth of 9 percent in February, with the company retailing 1,68,544 units, a notable increase compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, Maruti Suzuki's export business has witnessed a remarkable surge, with a staggering 68 percent spike recorded, totaling 28,927 units in February alone.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki boasts an extensive portfolio comprising 24 models catering to diverse consumer preferences in the Indian market.

This lineup encompasses a wide range of vehicles, including hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, minivans, and MUVs, offering customers ample choices to suit their needs and preferences.
