A two-day national workshop convened in Ranchi, Jharkhand, from February 15-16, 2024, in pursuit of urban livelihoods empowerment under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organized the event, which drew participation from approximately 150 delegates representing diverse sectors and regions across the nation.

Among the attendees were State Mission Directors of the State Urban Livelihoods Mission, senior officials from MoHUA and the Jharkhand state government, representatives from UNDP India, leading sector experts, as well as delegates from research institutions, start-ups, philanthropic organizations, and donor bodies.
The event featured a series of panel discussions addressing key themes such as enabling strategies for promoting women-led urban livelihoods, exploring emerging sectors and enterprise types including climate, services, retail, and manufacturing.
Deliberations centered on topics like the Multidimensional Poverty Index (NMPI) and the pivotal role of philanthropic efforts in addressing urban poverty through innovative financial investments and identifying priority areas for intervention.
A pivotal aspect of the workshop was the sharing of best practices among states concerning women-led urban livelihoods and economic empowerment.
This exchange facilitated peer learning and the potential replication of successful models across different regions.
