The North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, is spearheading the 'North East Start Up & Entrepreneurs' Conclave 2024'.
The event, held at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati on March 27th and 28th, is aimed at nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship in the Northeast region.
In a press conference, Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General of NECTAR, highlighted the Conclave's objectives, emphasizing its role in showcasing the dynamism of the North East startup ecosystem. The event seeks to bring together stakeholders to catalyze investment, innovation, and connectivity in the region.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in an online ceremony. It has attracted a diverse audience comprising school and university students, entrepreneurs, investors, industry professionals, and business enthusiasts.
Sarma emphasized the Conclave's pivotal role in channeling the region's youthful energy towards constructive innovation and addressing regional challenges to strengthening economic development.
Over the past decade, NECTAR has been committed to advancing science and technology solutions for the betterment of lives, livelihoods, and overall well-being in the Northeast. The 'North East Start Up & Entrepreneurs' Conclave' stands as a testament to NECTAR's dedication to promoting sustainable development in the region.
The event featured multiple technical sessions covering a wide array of topics, including technology diffusion, agricultural innovation, flood and erosion mitigation, geospatial technology applications, and more. Entrepreneurs supported by NECTAR shared their success stories, highlighting the impact of innovation on regional development.
Technical Partners such as Invest India, Startup India, and others, along with Organizing Partners IHFC-IIT Delhi, INSA, and VIBHA, lent their support to the Conclave, further amplifying its reach and impact.
A Technology Expo showcased innovations and solutions resulting from the application of science and technology in various development domains. Over 60 technology providers, innovators, and startups participated, highlighting the region's potential for technological advancement.
Additionally, a Quiz and Debate competition engaged students in exploring socially relevant technologies, while a cultural function celebrated the rich heritage of the Northeast through music and dance performances.
