Yathindra Siddaramaiah, former MLA and son of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has ignited a political firestorm with his disparaging comments about Union Minister Amit Shah, drawing sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Congress.

In a recent statement, Yathindra Siddaramaiah targeted Home Minister Amit Shah, labelling him as a ‘goonda’ (thug) and ‘rowdy’, citing allegations from his past. Referring to Shah's political journey, Siddaramaiah remarked on his criminal charges in Gujarat, questioning his rise to power despite his controversial background.

The remarks made by Yathindra Siddaramaiah have invited strong condemnation from BJP leaders, who have accused the Congress of promoting a culture of rowdyism. Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, a prominent BJP leader, emphasised that such behaviour is not tolerated within the BJP and suggested that it is characteristic of the Congress party.

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP MP S Muniswamy suggested that Yathindra Siddaramaiah's frustration stemmed from being denied a ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He dismissed Yathindra's political experience, describing him as inexperienced and attributing his comments to personal disappointment.

CT Ravi, another BJP leader, criticised Yathindra Siddaramaiah's political lineage, contrasting it with Amit Shah's grassroots rise within the BJP. Ravi emphasised that Shah's ascent in politics was not reliant on familial connections, unlike Yathindra's entry into politics.

Meanwhile, N. Ravikumar, a BJP leader, announced the party's intention to file complaints with both the Election Commission and the police against Yathindra Siddaramaiah for his derogatory remarks. Ravikumar urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take appropriate action against his son, questioning the fairness of governance under his leadership.

S Suresh Kumar, another BJP leader, cautioned Yathindra Siddaramaiah about the potential repercussions of his statements, emphasising the need for responsible conduct, especially towards high-ranking officials like the Home Minister.

The controversy surrounding Yathindra Siddaramaiah's comments underscores the intensifying political rivalry between the Congress and the BJP in Karnataka, setting the stage for heated exchanges as the state gears up for crucial elections.

The incident has once again highlighted the delicate balance of political discourse and the ramifications of inflammatory rhetoric in India's dynamic political landscape.
