Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a flood of congratulatory messages from over 50 world leaders after securing a historic third consecutive term in office.

Sources familiar with the matter report that leaders from across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean have extended their congratulations on his resounding electoral victory.

Notable leaders who have sent their wishes include Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Presidents of Spain and South Korea, as well as the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Mauritius.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka and leaders from India’s neighbourhood and extended neighbourhood, such as the Maldives, Iran, and Seychelles, have also sent their greetings to PM Modi.

From the G20 nations, the Prime Ministers of Italy and Japan, along with the President of South Korea, have offered their congratulations. African leaders, including the Presidents of Nigeria, Kenya, and Comoros, have joined in expressing their warm regards.

Additionally, leaders from the Caribbean, such as those from Jamaica, Barbados, and Guyana, have conveyed their best wishes. Southeast Asian leaders, including the Prime Ministers of Singapore and Malaysia, have also congratulated PM Modi on his electoral success.

The congratulatory messages follow the conclusion of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, which are considered the world’s largest democratic exercise. The elections began on April 19 and concluded on a recent Saturday.

Although exit polls predicted a comfortable victory for the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the official results showed the BJP securing 240 seats, fewer than its 2019 tally of 303.

Meanwhile, the Congress party saw significant growth, winning 99 seats, and the INDIA bloc surpassed 230 seats, presenting formidable competition to the NDA's 292 seats.

As PM Modi prepares for his third consecutive term, the outpouring of congratulations from global leaders underscores India's significant role on the world stage and highlights the strong bilateral relationships fostered under his leadership.
