The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its latest roster of candidates for parliamentary seats in Uttar Pradesh, making strategic changes ahead of the upcoming elections.
Among the notable shifts, Neeraj Shekhar, son of the late former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, has been designated as the BJP candidate for the Ballia Lok Sabha seat, supplanting incumbent MP Virendra Singh Mast.
Similarly, Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the sitting MP from Allahabad, has been replaced by Neeraj Tripathi, son of former Speaker Kesri Nath Tripathi.
In Phulpur, Keshri Devi Patel has been substituted by Parveen Patel as the BJP's candidate.
B.P. Saroj, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament from Machhlishahr, has been nominated again to contest the elections.
For the Ghazipur seat, the BJP has chosen Paras Nath Rai as its candidate. Rai, known to be a close confidant of Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, is set to challenge Afzal Ansari of the Samajwadi Party (SP).
Meanwhile, Jaiveer Singh has been selected by the BJP to contest from Mainpuri, where he will face off against Dimple Yadav of the SP.
Vinod Sonkar, the incumbent MP, will be vying for re-election from Kaushambhi for a third consecutive term.
These adjustments reflect the BJP's strategic maneuvers as it prepares for the electoral battle in Uttar Pradesh, a crucial state in Indian politics.
