Mumbai Police, investigating a threat message sent to Salman Khan, have arrested a 24-year-old man from Jamshedpur, officials revealed on Wednesday.
The suspect, Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a local vegetable seller, was apprehended following a demand for Rs 5 crore sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline last week.
After tracing the number to Jharkhand, police dispatched teams to Jamshedpur and also sent another team to Guwahati.
The arrest was made after a thorough investigation. On Tuesday, officials mentioned that the same number had also sent an "apology" message following the initial threat.
Notably, Khan had earlier received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Suspected members of the gang had opened fire outside the actor’s Bandra home in April this year.
A few months back, the Navi Mumbai police uncovered a plot by the Bishnoi gang to kill Khan, leading to security enhancement for the actor.
