At 79 years old, Hasnuram Ambedkari is grabbing attention by announcing his intention to participate in his 99th election, an extraordinary achievement by any measure.
Despite experiencing defeat in 98 prior attempts dating back to 1985, Ambedkari persists in participating in electoral contests. This time, his sights were set on Fatehpur Sikri, with hopes of nearing the remarkable century milestone. However, fate dealt him a setback as his nomination from Fatehpur Sikri was rejected.
Acknowledging his resolute passion for electoral participation, Ambedkari's family stands firmly by his side, respecting his determination.
A former clerk and MNREGA worker, Ambedkari finances his electoral campaigns solely from his own resources, eschewing any financial assistance or support.
"It is my passion to contest elections, and I pursue it at my own expense. I do not seek financial assistance or support from anyone. I know that I will not win, but that does not stop me from contesting the polls," he affirmed.
With a keen awareness of the advancing years, Ambedkari remains steadfast in his determination to achieve his goal. "I am committed to reaching a century, and I also know that my age is advancing. I will hit my goal before I go," he asserted confidently.
