Union Minister and senior BJP leader Kiren Rijiju dispelled concerns of an anti-incumbency wave against him in the Arunachal West Parliamentary seat, expressing assurance in clinching a fourth consecutive term.

The Union Earth Sciences Minister rebuffed notions of political opposition, asserting that dissent within democracy is natural and does not necessarily denote anti-incumbency.

Rijiju stressed on the pivotal role of real voters in shaping electoral outcomes, highlighting his proven track record of driving tangible development initiatives across Arunachal Pradesh.

Rijiju addressed speculations, stating, "There is nothing called anti-incumbency. It is a part of democracy where some people will always oppose you. Some political opposition does not equate to anti-incumbency. Last elections also saw similar sentiments, yet the results spoke otherwise."

In the 2019 elections, Rijiju secured victory in the Arunachal West Parliamentary seat by a substantial margin of 1,74,843 votes, defeating his closest rival Nabam Tuki of the Congress.

Asserting his contributions beyond ministerial and MP roles, Rijiju underlined the significant investments in development projects across the state, surpassing the combined efforts of numerous MPs.

He highlighted his instrumental role in providing essential equipment to district hospitals and major health centres, alongside spearheading critical infrastructure projects such as the Frontier Highway and national highways to remote regions.

Reflecting on the upcoming elections, Rijiju stressed continuity in the developmental agenda set forth by the Modi government, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for steadfast support.

He reiterated his commitment to seeking blessings from the electorate to continue the government's transformative work.

Regarding the denial of party tickets to some incumbent ministers and MLAs, Rijiju attributed it to the party's strategic decision-making process and broader vision of service beyond electoral mandates.

He spotlighted the BJP's ethos of nurturing a culture where individuals contribute to society through diverse capacities, not limited to elected positions.

Looking ahead, Rijiju outlined his priorities for the next term, pressing the need to enhance income levels, elevate living standards, and bolster economic policies to foster greater prosperity and happiness among the people.

Elections to the Arunachal West and Arunachal East Lok Sabha seats, alongside the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, begins on April 19.
