100 Days of the Israel-Hamas War; What is the situation now?

The Israel-Hamas War took the world's attention as one of the most violent conflicts of the 21st Century. As the Hamas Terrorists continue to hold Israeli hostages, the latter's attacks on Gaza do not seem to be wavering.

Last night, the U.S. conducted a unilateral strike in Yemen, targeting a Hamas-supporter Houthi radar site, as reported by two U.S. defence officials. This strike was smaller in scale compared to the coordinated strikes on Thursday when the U.S. and British militaries targeted over 60 sites in response to weeks of attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, claimed by the militants to be in support of Hamas.

The Houthis, who control much of Yemen, have vowed retaliation, heightening concerns of a broader regional conflict. President Biden stated that the U.S. would respond if the Houthis persisted in their "outrageous behaviour."

Tomorrow marks the 100th day since Hamas took hostages in Gaza, a sombre milestone commemorated by Israelis. Family members gathered at the Israel-Gaza border yesterday, expressing support for the estimated 100 hostages still held in Gaza.

The International Court of Justice concluded hearings in The Hague, but a decision to halt the war is expected to take weeks. South Africa accused Israel of "genocidal intent" in its assault on Gaza, a charge that Israel rejected as "atrocious and preposterous."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained that until all of the hostages are freed, the attacks will continue.

The conflict has escalated to the extent that the world's eyes have been diverted from the Ukraine-Russia conflict, which has been going on for over 600 days. The focus shift has been so potent that a majority of media outlets across the world have stopped reporting on the issue.

This can be attributed to the fact that the Israel-Hamas war is not just limited to the two regions, its repercussions can be observed in neighbouring countries such as Jordan, Syria, and Yemen, which have all been involved in exchange of attacks with the US and Israel itself.

Major residential areas in Gaza have been reduced to rubble as a result of multiple airstrikes in the region.

As the Hamas Terrorists have been hiding among the common public, the collateral damage of war has skyrocketed.

In the past 24 hours, 135 Palestinians have been reported killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry, as the Israeli military continues its offensive. Health and living conditions for Gaza's 2.2 million people are deteriorating, with food access at crisis levels.

Since the beginning of the war, more than 23,800 people have been killed in Gaza, over 60,000 have been injured, and thousands are missing and presumed dead, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israeli military officials state that at least 186 soldiers have been killed during the country's ground invasion of Gaza, following multipronged attacks by Hamas on Israel on Oct. 7, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and the seizure of about 240 hostages.
