John Tinniswood, a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC, has claimed the title of the world's oldest living man at the remarkable age of 111 years and 223 days.

Hailing from Merseyside, Tinniswood credits neither lifestyle choices nor diet for his extraordinary longevity, though he confesses to indulging in battered fish and chips every Friday.

Residing in a care home in Southport, Tinniswood, affectionately described by staff as a "big chatterbox," maintains a down-to-earth perspective on his diet, stating, "I eat what they give me and so does everybody else. I don't have a special diet."

When questioned about his secret to longevity, Tinniswood attributes it simply to "pure luck," philosophising, "You either live long or you live short, and you can't do much about it."

His views resonate with a humility that transcends his remarkable age.

Mr. Tinniswood, abstaining from smoking and limiting alcohol consumption, remains connected to the world through his radio, managing his own finances and staying abreast of current affairs.

His advice for a healthy life revolves around moderation, cautioning against excess in any aspect of life.

Born in Liverpool in 1912, Tinniswood's journey through life has been marked by historical milestones, including meeting his wife Blodwen during the Second World War.

Their enduring love lasted 44 years until her passing in 1986.

Reflecting on his 111 years, Tinniswood acknowledges the evolving nature of the world, expressing a reserved optimism about its trajectory. Yet, accolades such as being recognized as the world's oldest living man leave him unfazed, stating, "Doesn't make any difference to me. Not at all. I accept it for what it is."
