The Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, expressed a commitment to strengthening the relationship between China and India, emphasising a desire to keep bilateral ties on a healthy and stable path.
This statement followed President Droupadi Murmu's recent congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of China's 75th National Day.
In his remarks, Ambassador Xu highlighted the principles that should guide this relationship, including mutual respect, understanding, trust, accommodation, and achievement.
He shared President Murmu’s message on social media, reiterating the importance of these principles in fostering cooperation between the two nations.
President Murmu’s message conveyed heartfelt wishes for the well-being of President Xi and the prosperity of the Chinese people. She stressed that as neighbouring countries with numerous developmental challenges and shared regional interests, it is crucial for India and China to work toward maintaining peaceful and stable relations.
Her message underscored the potential benefits of a mutually advantageous relationship, urging both countries to leverage their strengths for the welfare of their populations and the broader region.
The importance of the India-China relationship extends beyond their borders. During a recent meeting in Saint Petersburg, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi acknowledged the significance of their bilateral ties not just for their own nations but also for the global landscape. This discussion took place on the sidelines of the BRICS High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters meeting.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the Doval-Wang meeting provided a valuable opportunity to review ongoing efforts aimed at resolving outstanding issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This dialogue is essential for stabilising and rebuilding the relationship between the two countries.
Both leaders agreed on the urgency of their mission, pledging to intensify efforts towards complete disengagement in the remaining areas. Doval emphasised that peace and stability along the border and adherence to the LAC are vital for restoring normalcy in bilateral relations. The MEA reiterated the need for both nations to honour previous agreements, protocols, and understandings established by their governments.
This commitment to dialogue and cooperation reflects a shared recognition of the challenges that both countries face. By fostering a spirit of collaboration, India and China can work together to navigate the complexities of their relationship, addressing mutual concerns and enhancing stability in the region.
Looking forward, the potential for collaboration between India and China is significant. Both nations have a wealth of resources and strengths that can be harnessed for their mutual benefit.
This collaboration could yield positive outcomes not just for India and China but also for the larger international community, promoting peace and prosperity in an increasingly interconnected world.
