Missiles rained down on several Israeli cities on Sunday as Iran launched a retaliatory strike following the US-led bombardment of its key nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said 27 missiles were fired in two successive volleys — 21 in the initial barrage, followed by six more shortly after. Ten impact sites have been confirmed across the Upper Galilee, central coastal areas, and parts of the occupied Golan Heights. Several of those missiles either struck targets directly or caused damage through debris after being intercepted.
Medical officials reported 16 injuries so far, with extensive damage to infrastructure in Tel Aviv and Haifa. Authorities warned that casualty numbers could rise as emergency teams continued search and rescue operations through the rubble.

Iran’s evolving strike strategy, combining conventional rockets with hypersonic Fatah-1 missiles and Sejjil-class dual-purpose munitions, appeared aimed at bypassing Israel’s layered air defences — the American-built THAAD and Israeli-made Arrow, David’s Sling, and Iron Dome systems.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had earlier declared that “war starts now,” vowing strikes against both Israel and US military positions across the Gulf.
In a separate development, Iranian authorities executed Majid Mosayebi, accused of collaborating with Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. “He was hanged this morning after going through the full process of criminal procedure and after his sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court,” Iran’s judiciary news agency Mizan reported.
Iranian leaders have maintained that the strikes on their nuclear programme constituted an unprovoked act of aggression. The international community remains deeply divided, with some nations condemning the US-led assault while acknowledging Iran’s right to pursue civilian nuclear energy.
Tensions are expected to heighten further, with Iran hinting at broader reprisals and Israel warning of “decisive and overwhelming” countermeasures.
