IDF Calls for Beit Hanoun Evacuation Following Rocket Fire.

Israel has called for the evacuation of Palestinians from Beit Hanoun after recent rocket attacks on Sderot and Ashkelon. The attacks were launched from the northern Gaza town, leading Israel to urge residents to seek shelter in Gaza City.

Colonel Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-language spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), tweeted a list of areas that need to be evacuated. The IDF believes that fewer than 200,000 Palestinian civilians are currently in northern Gaza.

Adraee highlighted that rockets are being fired by Hamas and other terrorist organisations from these areas towards Israel, prompting the IDF to prepare for a strong and immediate response.

On Tuesday, three rockets were fired by Palestinian Islamic Jihad from northern Gaza targeting Ashkelon and Sderot. While one rocket was intercepted, the other two landed in open spaces, causing no casualties or damage.

The Israeli army also temporarily closed a road used for delivering humanitarian aid after five soldiers were injured by Hamas fire. This corridor, essential for aid, extends from the Kerem Shalom border crossing to Gaza City.

In the broader context of conflict, at least 1,200 people have been killed in Hamas attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border since October 7.

Additionally, 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage, with 39 of the 115 remaining hostages now declared dead. Furthermore, Hamas has been holding two Israeli civilians captive since 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.

This recent escalation underscores the persistent tension and violence in the region, with both sides suffering significant losses and continuing to engage in conflict. The call for evacuation reflects the IDF's anticipation of further military actions in response to ongoing rocket fire from Gaza.
