Israeli airstrikes on Syria - Lebanon border raise concerns.

Israeli airstrikes have reportedly struck the Jusiyah crossing on the Syria-Lebanon border, causing significant damage. While details about casualties remain unclear, the attack has intensified tensions in an already volatile region.

Syrian authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, according to Xinhua news agency.

The Jusiyah crossing is strategically important, often associated with the movement of Hezbollah members between Syria and Lebanon.

This latest attack underscores Israel's growing military operations against Hezbollah-linked targets in Lebanon. The escalation reflects a broader regional conflict involving key actors in Syria’s prolonged war.

Earlier this week, the Syrian city of Palmyra witnessed a devastating Israeli airstrike that targeted residential buildings, leaving at least 36 people dead and 50 others injured. This incident marked one of the deadliest in recent weeks, further highlighting the human cost of ongoing hostilities.

Since the onset of Syria’s civil war in 2011, Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes across Syrian territory, focusing on military installations and Iran-backed groups. These operations aim to curtail the influence of adversaries like Hezbollah and Iran but have also fueled wider regional instability.

In Lebanon, the situation remains dire. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported over 3,650 deaths since October 2023, with the majority of fatalities occurring in the past two months. These figures underline the devastating impact of the escalating violence on civilian populations in the region.
