Prime Minister Narendra Modi spotlighted the importance of peace during a productive meeting with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Vienna on Wednesday.

The discussions, which focused on global disputes including the Ukraine conflict and West Asia tensions, pointed out India's stance that "this is not the time for war."

Arriving from Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Modi described his two-day visit as a landmark, marking the first by an Indian prime minister in over 40 years.

He highlighted the renewed commitment between India and Austria to explore new avenues for mutual cooperation, outlining a strategic blueprint for the next decade.

"In our discussions today, Chancellor Nehammer and I explored innovative ways to enhance our bilateral ties. We have set a clear strategic direction and outlined a comprehensive cooperation agenda for the future," Modi stated during a joint media briefing with Chancellor Nehammer.

The leaders delved into global conflicts, with Modi reaffirming India's preference for dialogue and diplomacy over armed confrontation.

"Solving disputes through peaceful means, not through war, remains our shared priority," he emphasized, highlighting India's readiness to support diplomatic efforts.

Both leaders condemned terrorism unequivocally, emphasizing its intolerability under any circumstances.

Modi expressed satisfaction at commencing his third term with a historic visit to Austria, underscoring the shared values of democracy and rule of law that underpin bilateral relations.

"This visit holds special significance, being the first by an Indian PM in 41 years. Our partnership, grounded in mutual trust and shared interests, continues to strengthen," Modi affirmed, addressing the robust foundation of India-Austria relations.

The leaders also agreed on the need for reforming international institutions like the United Nations to enhance their relevance and effectiveness in addressing contemporary challenges.
